Client - Special School District of St. Louis - HR/Payroll Implementation
Assignment - After completing their Lawson Financials
implementation and subsequent upgrade, Special School District of St.
Louis (SSD) went on to implement Lawson HR/Payroll. Because of our expertise
and involvement in earlier projects, SSD asked JAT to manage and implement
their HR/Payroll applications.
Challenge - Working closely with the SSD team,
JAT faced a number of challenges including:
- A unique school district, SSD provides special education
teachers to all of the school districts throughout St. Louis County.
They employ teachers who work in multiple positions and departments
and whose account distributions vary widely based on the position they
work. With Lawson release 8.1, they are able to assign more than 5 positions
per employee allowing them to properly track and record employee time
and payments.
- An examination of the District's business needs
uncovered requirements for several customizations, including several
screens and reports.
- SSD had used their previous HR/Payroll system for
over 10 years and had built business processes based on its functionality.
- Due to uncovering a business requirement necessitating data from multiple fiscal and calendar years, SSD had to convert and carry over a full year of payroll history.
Solution - JAT's experienced consultants and understanding of the K-12 industry allowed them to design and build the customizations necessary to successfully employ and maximize the Lawson functionality. These customizations perform off-standard taxation, contract maintenance and leave balance docking and rollover.
Results - SSD went live with HR/Payroll version 8.1. Lawson ERP saves the Payroll staff from performing manual calculations and significantly reduces the time required for audits.
